Boubakiki is a duo of saxophone (Joe Steele) and handpan (Rosie Bergonzi) formed in 2017. For this unusual combination of instruments, Boubakiki mostly play material devised collaboratively. Boubakiki have an eclectic musical style - from atmospheric, serene textures to upbeat earworms, drawing influence from classical, jazz, folk and non-Western musical traditions.

  

In January 2018 Boubakiki released a self-titled debut EP (available on Spotify, iTunes and Amazon Music), featuring four new pieces utilising the Db F minor handpan. It was described as "like music from the future" - Trust the Doc. 

 

Boubakiki have performed at locations across the UK, including Union Chapel (Islington), and are members of Live Music Now, a scheme bringing musicians into 

community settings.
